Surabaya Art Prize is a contemporary art competition that encourages artists to think critically about ideas, mediums, and the relationship between artworks and public space. In the midst of rapid visual culture and the fast flow of images, this program emphasizes the importance of material presence, artistic decision-making, and tangible aesthetic experience.

The program showcases around 30 works of semifinalists from across Indonesia, who have undergone a curatorial process culminating in the selection of 3 outstanding works in the Official Selection category.

In addition to this category, Surabaya Art Prize also presents a Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest form of recognition for artists whose enduring dedication and contributions have significantly enriched Indonesia’s visual arts ecosystem.
