19 – 27 September 2026
Suradaya – What Remains Unseen explores how Surabaya is represented through photography, visual literacy, collaborative documentation, and archives. The program looks at the city through three approaches: what is visible, what is missing, and what might emerge.
Organized through a collaboration between Wisma Jerman Surabaya and Institut français Indonesia (IFI) Surabaya, the program brings together participants from Indonesia, France, and Germany, alongside academic institutions and creative communities. Through observation, discussion, and photography, the participants explore different perspectives on Surabaya and its everyday life.
The exhibition presents documentary photographs, images that have shaped perceptions of Surabaya, and archival materials. Together, these works reveal stories, people, places, and experiences that may not always appear in familiar images of the city, inviting visitors to look beyond what is seen and discover what also shapes Surabaya.
